Juan Manuel Arango

Juan Manuel Arango is FulGaz’s first contributor from the Northern Territory. Hailing from the Central Australian town of Yulara, the 43 year old is a keen bike rider and works at Outback Cycling who organises trips around the base of Uluru.

We reached out to Juan to become a contributor when the lockdowns hit the east coast of Australia, and rendered us unable to travel to the region and share its natural beauty with the world.

Juan is lucky enough to get to ride around Uluru every other day and is fortunate enough to experience Uluru as it changes colours and evolves its beauty every single day.

Juan’s favourite ride in real life is a favourite ride is one from his home country, Alto de Letras por Manizales in Caldas Colombia. A 25km uphill battle with 1500m+ of climbing!

His favourite cycle memory is a trip back in his teenage years, when at just 16 years old, Juan and a group of friends rode from Manizales to Cartagena in Colombia over five days, making memories along the way.

Once the current pandemic is over and we can travel again, Juan is planning is to ride back home by bike, if possible, starting in Bali and crossing through Malaysia, Myanmar, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and on to Europe.

You can explore Uluru with Juan if you’re riding the Hope Cycle tour of Australia, otherwise it will be released later in the year.
