Starting in the Mission Beach area of San Diego this ride loops around Fiesta Island, then follows the San Diego River Bike Path all the way to the ocean and the Ocean Beach dog beach.
On the way down the path notice the estuary of the San Diego River with the tide in. It's famous for birders, especially during the spring and fall migration seasons. You'll even get a taste of urban road construction and the consequent detour.
