NEW IRONMAN Australia route added to FulGaz

FulGaz in partnership with IRONMAN is excited to unveil a brand new recording of IRONMAN Australia.

Recorded on race day, this is the ultimate way to get the home ground advantage and train on the course ahead of the real-life event 365 days a year.

You can either attempt to ride the entire route inside or use our segement tool to cut this route into bike sized pieces.

If you’re looking to train for the 70.3 version

To start the 70.3 lap simply create your own segment of this full-distance course using the segment tool. Start your segment 137.29km from the start (3hrs 26min and 32sec into the video) and run it through until the finish, two laps of this will get you close to 90km. Please note that as this was filmed during race day a small stretch of the 70.3 course from Lake Cathie to the turnaround is missing due to time constraints.

DETAILED OVERVIEW

After exiting transition, you will head west onto the bike course via Hastings River Drive before turning left onto Winery Drive for a quick out and back to Cassegrain Wines. You will then get back on Hastings River Drive heading north, riding over the Pacific Highway and through Blackmans Point interchange. From here you will begin the first of two laps at the northern end of the course on Telegraph Point Road and through the scenic townships and rolling hills of Pembrooke and Redbank.

The northern turnaround is on Stoney Creek Road, just outside of Wauchope, before returning to Blackmans Point Interchange to start your second lap. Once your second lap is complete at approximately 125km, you will continue through Blackmans Point interchange and back onto Hastings River Drive, passing tantalisingly close transition as you begin your one lap of the southern course. You will hit a few more rolling hills along Ocean Drive while taking in the sweeping ocean views, including a stunning loop down to the Tacking Point Lighthouse before continuing south towards the turnaround in Lake Cathie. Your return to Port Macquarie will be where you meet the infamous Matthew Flinders Drive climb before heading back into transition at Westport Park.

Recorded on race day, under race conditions this is the best way to prepare for IRONMAN Australia. This route covers all the key features of the bike leg including the repeat loops and the iconic Matthew Flinders Drive back into Port Macquarie. Keep an eye out for kangaroos on this course!
