The Death Ride on FulGaz

THE DEATH RIDE IS HERE, FULGAZ’ TOUGHEST CHALLENGE TO DATE!

The Death Ride – Tour of the California Alps is the toughest challenge yet on FulGaz. Featuring a key selection of the TOUGHEST climbs in the California Alps, this series will have you gritting your teeth and looking for the flat.

The route will cover 80km+ with around 4,148m+ of climbing. For those of you who prefer the imperial measurements, that’s 50miles+ with 13600+ feet of climbing over just five stages.

The route is truly stunning and will take your mind off the pain a little bit, but you need to be prepared for this one. The first stage will open on 2 April, so you can roll out together, and then you have just 10 days to complete the other routes.

The only advice we can give is to put on your climbing shoes and get ready to suffer. The virtual event on FulGaz is the perfect way to learn the climbs ahead of the real-life event.

Entries are now open via Event Brite here. Once you enter the event, you will be emailed an access code in the order confirmation which will reveal the ride channel in FulGaz, the week of the event.

Best of luck and don’t forget there will be prizes also up for grabs. Stay tuned!

MONITOR PASS WEST ASCENT

The ride starts at Monitor Junction, where the highways to Monitor Pass and Ebbetts Pass meet, and travels past Heenan Lake, where Lahanton Cutthroat trout are cultivated in order to preserve the endangered species. With approximately 2800 feet of climbing in just over 8 miles, this HC climb is a tough one. It's the first climb of The Deathride, aka the Tour of the California Alps, and with its relentless pitches it sets the tone for the rest of the climbs.

EBBETTS NORTH

Monitor Junction, where the highways that climb to Monitor Pass and Ebbetts Pass intersect, is the start of this ride, up Highway 4 to the north side of Ebbetts Pass. It's climb number three (of five) of the Deathride, aka the Tour of the California Alps, and is the prettiest of them all even though it too is a Cat. HC. Enjoy the views of the East Fork of the Carson River, Silver Creek and near the top of the climb, Kinney Reservoir, as you ascend.
