FulGaz is proud to be working with the Samaritans Cycling Festival to help bring their 2021 event to life.

The Chiltern Samaritans cycling festival is a set of virtual rides which are a new and easy way to take part in raising money for the Chiltern Samaritans charity.

You can decide to do just 1, 2 or all 3 routes. While it’s not mandatory, riders are encouraged to set up a sponsorship page and then let your friends know you are doing the challenge to help raise funds for suicide prevention in the UK. Your donation will help to maintain their free 24×7 telephone service and email option. These are available on 116123 and [email protected].

You can complete the rides anytime over the 10 day period starting on Friday 2nd April.

About the Samaritans

Every seven seconds, the Samaritans answer a call for help. They are there for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.

Samaritans are not only available in moments of crisis, they also take action to prevent the crisis. They give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. And we encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.

They offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need in a variety of settings including prisons, schools, hospitals, and on the rail network. The Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time and training others to do the same.

Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide. That’s why they work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority.

1. Goldfinger - Samaritans Challenge

Stoke Park golf club appears in several blockbuster movies, with Pinewood Studios located just a few miles away. Possibly the most famous sequence of all is the golf match between James Bond and Auric Goldfinger, where we meet the evil henchman Oddjob.

2. The Samaritans Dashwood 25

A pleasant rolling ride in the Chilterns in the early morning sunshine. Chipps Hill (12%, West Wycombe), Dolesden Lane (12%, Frieth), and Chinnor Hill (11%, Chinnor) stretch out before you, interspersed with some fast descents under clear blue skies.

3. The Samaritans Hellfire 50mile

A long (50 miles/80 Kms) and hilly ride taking on all of your favourite climbs in the Chilterns, filmed on a very hot midsummer’s day in 2020.
