This week Klaus takes us on a trip to Murnau which is nestled on the edge of the Bavarian Alps, about 70 kilometres (43 mi) south of Munich.
This quaint market town overlooks Lake Staffelsee and the Nature Reserve “Murnauer Moos”.

The spectacular landscape attracted world-famous painters like Kandinsky, and the region is famous for being the home of Expressionist painting.

Walchensee to Riegsee

Ride along the shore of the Walchensee along a small bike path. A short ascent and then a rather fast descent towards Kochel am See is followed by 30 minutes along the local roads in evening mode. Watch out for and listen to the green Lamborghini! The final 5 minutes are a best of best of Bavarian scenery, ending in the evening sun at the Riegsee!

Murnau to Walchensee

Sylvenstein to Eng (Ahornboden)

Start is at the Sylvenstein reservoir on the local road. After a couple of km, we turn onto the “Mautstrasse” (toll road) and into the “Die Eng”. Its a famous enclave. Usually heavy traffic but filmed during the week so traffic is bearable. The Eng is famous for their maple trees (Großer und Kleiner Ahornboden). Unfortunately, most leaves had already fallen, but the view of the mountains which get better with each km is an equal reward.
