Flat roads are hard to find in the Lake District, though the road between Grasmere and Ambleside is pretty close, so offers a scenic recovery ride from the serious climbing available elsewhere. The ride starts by going through the pretty village of Grasmere and then heads past the small lakes of Grasmere and Rydal Water to Rydal. Here the ride turns off the main road and follows a minor road popular with walkers and cyclists to the Southern end of Ambleside and the finish at the head of Lake Windermere.
