Grafton Notch

Newry, Maine, USA

Hilly

This ride travels on one of Maine’s more scenic roads up though Grafton Notch, which is a classic example of a U-shaped valley carved out by glacial action during the last ice age and home too a popular state park. Some higher mountain ledges still carry striations (grooves) left by the glacier. The finishing descent to Lake Umbagog, the source of the Androscoggin River, provides some great views.
