Helmsdale To Reay

Helmsdale, Scotland

Hilly

Helmsdale to Reay is the “alternative” less travelled route from the South into Caithness. Starting at the Railway Station in Helmsdale we follow the course of the River Helmsdale inland towards Kinbrace. Then we pick up the Halladale River which we will follow all the way to the North Coast. We pass through the “Flow Country”, a large, rolling expanse of peatland and wetland area of Caithness and Sutherland in the North of Scotland which is the largest expanse of blanket bog in Europe, and covers about 4,000 km². Note, this ride ends where the Reay to John O Groats ride begins, so for real marathon session on the trainer you can do back to back!
