This is a very popular ride in the Santiago area, from the town of Chacabuco to the summit of Cuesta Chacabuco along the old road to San Felipe. It has a steady gradient mostly around 5-6% on an immaculate road surface. At the summit is an 18m high metal cross which celebrates the Battle of Chacbuco, instrumental in the fight for the independence of Chile from Spain.
