This ride has everything an urban ride should have: bike path, rough roads, smooth roads, hills, ocean, views. After winding through the Ocean Beach area of San Diego the ride begins to climb steadily up to the top of Point Loma and the old lighthouse. From the top you get views of downtown San Diego and the harbour. Then there's a quick dive back down to the ocean with views of surf and surfers with Tijuana, Mexico and Mexican islands off in the distance, a dead-end turnaround, and climb back up.
Once atop the point it's mostly downhill back to Ocean Beach. At 18.1 Km, keep your eyes peeled for the fox that crosses the road twice, first left to right then right to left just before leaving the Navy area.
