Lake Taupo in the central North Island of New Zealand is the caldera of a supervolcano that last erupted around 186 AD.
This mostly flat ride begins at the control gates to the Waikato River, and winds along the edge of the Tongariro Domain, past the Taupo Boat Harbour and along the lakefront of the city of Taupo, before continuing on the rest of the Great Lake Pathway, finishing on the track at Five Mile Bay.
