Spruce Knob is the highest peak in West Virginia.
"Knob" is a regional description for a mountain peak. It is a very remote area and hard to access. It is rarely climbed by cyclists. Perhaps you can see why I want this in our library! After some steeper initial ramps it is remarkably evenly graded and shallower allowing one to hold a little speed. It is also long, about 18.5 kilometres. I included two smaller climbs and one highway descent that is well enough engineered that you do not need to touch the brakes, even on the trainer!
Hopefully this gives you a feel of just how far removed this rugged climb is.
