A 30km ride from the Adelaide planes to the heart of McLaren Vale. Taking the Patrick Jonker Veloway from Darlington we climb for 3.6km to Majors Rd with an average of 4% (the gradient varies a lot) where we continue with some small surprises along the way, for a further 18kms alongside the Southern Expressway.
At the end we turn right onto the Coast to Vines Rail Trail to continue down, over the Onkaparinga River near old Noarlunga, before climbing back up to Seaford Heights. After we dip under Main South road through a bridge/tunnel we enter Peddler's Rise. After several cuttings we descend under Victor Harbor road and head into the main street of McLaren Vale.
The ride ends at one of the few cafes with ample bike racking, the Tin Shed.
