BACKROADS GRAVEL

Backroads is WA’s newest cycling and running event in the Midwest. Located in the Shire of Chapman Valley. You’ll be are treated with views like you’ve never seen before as you race through the famous fields of golden canola in full bloom.

Backroads offers gravel riders will explore private farmlands, dusty country lanes and enjoy warm West Australian hospitality.

If you’re not keen on riding the entire route inside, you can use FulGaz’s segment tool to trim the ride to just the key part you’d like to train on.

We’ve also included a few other rides from the region to help familiarise yourself with the terrain and roads.

BACKROADS GRAVEL - LUPIN LOOP

The Backroads 60km Lupin Loop starts and finishes at the Nabawa Football Oval in the Chapman Valley. The route is best described as undulating through the picturesque canola and wheat fields, the longest climb is between 5.6km and 8.9km rising 65m over 3.3km. The surface is 96% gravel and 4% bitumen. Adding to the experience, there are a number of creek crossings to negotiate on the loop, the depth with vary depending on the seasonal rain, but there’s usually enough water to make a splash.
