100km Gran fondo

Take on the full 100km Gran Fondo in one ride. Perfect for those entering the race this year so you know exactly what lies ahead on event day and how to pace your effort.

100km Port Douglas Gran Fondo 2023

The Port Douglas Gran Fondo has several different lengths, this is the most popular 100k distance, with over 500 metres of climbing. Heading south on the Captain Cook Highway you’ll be overlooking the Coral Sea and the still waters inside the Great Barrier Reef. A quick lap around Palm Cove and back onto the Captain Cook Highway heading north to the finish in Port Douglas.

Sprint Segment 1 - Start to Rex Lookout

Experience an early morning start during the 2023 Port Douglas Gran Fondo as riders roll out of Port Douglas and journey south. The start of this ride is pretty flat with a couple of rolling hills before you turn right and get back onto the Captain Cook highway. This first section ends at the aid station atop Rex lookout and the views are well worth the effort!

Sprint Segment 2 - Rex Lookout to Palm Cove return

This segment starts with a fast downhill descent from Rex’s Lookout where you will find just one of the many aid stations on course. You will journey along the stunning coast line to find another aid station nestled along the beachfront in Palm Cove before making a u-turn to turn back north. Watch out for the Pink TuTu Peloton in this section, you won’t miss them. This ride ends after the timed KOM/QOM segment atop of Rex Lookout.

Sprint Segment 3 - Rex Lookout to Finish

After a quick rest at Rex’s lookout, it’s now the home stretch following the course in reverse before heading into Port Douglas and taking a quicker route into the finish line at the Marina. Finish this one and it’s cold towels and beers at the finish line!
