This week we take a leisurely ride through the Netherlands, home to some of the best riders in the world.

The land of the stroopwafel, clogs and tulips really turned it on for these two rides from contributors Jasper Kunst and Arnold Ligtvoet.

Escape from Amsterdam

A nice ride along the river Amstel river just south of Amsterdam. Following the river north with a turn against the wind in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel back to Uithoorn.

It’s a lovely flat cruise 20km/12mile cruise that winds its way along with postcard worthy canal on a bright and clear Spring day.

In typical Dutch style is very flat with only 40 metres/131 feet of up and best suited to those of us who might be more the size of Tom Boonen rather than Esteban Chavez.
